Comments: Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center contacted GCHD on 11/20/17 at approximately 12:15pm to report a fire that occurred today at the Indian Falls Log Cabin Restaurant. As per telephone conversation with facility owner (Amanda Owczarczak) at approximately 12:30pm, an electrical outlet located in the kitchen near the three-bay sink was continuously sparking at 11:30am this morning, a dry chemical fire extinguisher was used to stop the sparking, and 9-1-1 was called immediately. The fire department arrived at approximately 11:45am to inspect the facility and confirmed no additional fire hazardous were present. Owner also stated the facility was closed at the time of the incident and will remain closed until the facility is inspected by this department. No food preparation was taking place at the time of the incident. An inspection was conducted by this department at 3:00pm. All utensils, dishes, food preparation surfaces, walls, and floors in the kitchen were washed, rinsed, and sanitized. No dry chemicals from the fire extinguisher observed in the kitchen at time of inspection. Chef Manager (Josh Swimline) states one open cardboard box of kosher salt, one cardboard box of bread crumbs, one cardboard box of cake mix, and an uncovered bowl of roux located in the kitchen were covered with dry chemical powder when the fire extinguisher was deployed. Chef manager discarded the kosher salt, bread crumbs, cake mix, and roux prior to the inspection. No additional food items contaminated. The damaged outlet located in the kitchen was replaced today with a GFI outlet by an electrician from Seamans' Hardware Store. The fire extinguisher is scheduled to be recharged on 11/21/17 at 9:30am. Ok to re-open. (1.5)
