Comments: Met with Rachel Murphy and school staff on 9-21-17. Food prep review conducted in response to report of worms being found on lunch plates on 9-19 and 9-20. A worm was found on a plate on 9-19 with an apple on the plate. A worm was found in an apple on 9-20. Apples are delivered from Fowler School to Seymour School and stored in crates at room temp. in the hallway adjacent to the kitchen. Apples are washed in the produce sink in a strainer with cold water. Apples are to be inspected thoroughly during the washing and wrapping process by kitchen staff. It appears the worms were in the apples when they were shipped from the orchard. The crates were marked Red Jacket Orchard, Geneva. Five crates of apples to be discarded as a precautionary step to avoid contaminated produce.
